Back on Track (We Hope)!

We think that Moodle is now updated and that all our discussions and assignments are back. Evrim and I did the Week 4 video this morning and we are going to use Week 4 to catch up with both our Week 2 discussions and our blogging discussions in Week 3. We will then be ready to begin new topics for Week 4. We will have an application assignment focused upon Pre-Writing during Week 4, but no new discussions. Whew!
I am impressed with our class reaction to our mini-crisis. Most students seem to understand technology issues and the need to work around these issues. We noted that Facebook and Diigo became more active during our Moodle downtime and we were glad to have these alternative communication avenues. Thanks to all of you!
In other news, we will not be scheduling office hours unless you tell us there is a need for this synchronous communication. It appears that our other numerous channels of communication are working.

  1. I am glad to hear that we will have another week to finish up this week's discussion because it seems to have gotten off to a slow start. Hopefully everyone is getting back into the swing of things.

  2. My favorite saying from veterinary school was, "Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things!" I am glad everything was recovered...now I can complete the summary of our group discussion and continue on with the new assignments. I had time to read a good portion of Papert and Richardson while I was flying to/from California...both writers challenge my thinking and make me somewhat sad to think that our educational system fails so many students...hopefully education in the USA will take a leap forward and become a world leader!!

  4. It's great to have things back on track. I did feel like I was able to catch up on a little reading since I wasn't on moodle as much.

  5. I agree with Crystal that I am all caught up with the reading and am ready for next week's discussions. It just really felt that participation was non-existent this week with some group members; therefore, our discussion wasn't much of a discussion. Hopefully this will pick back up with Moodle being back active. I am wondering if some people aren't logging in since it says that Moodle is still under maintenance. Maybe they don't know that we are actually up and running again. Just a thought!

  6. Glad to have some catch up time, thanks! I felt I was getting just the bare minium done since I was reading, trying to log in, and finishing our other class, by responding to our classmates resources. Oh, and then you add in the holiday weekend, well two "holiday" weekends, Labor Day and the Rivalry game this week! :)
I look forward to a fueled up week 4!

  7. It just dawned on me... I have two discussions to lead and wrap up this week along with the assignments and readings. It is also homecoming and I am in charge of the school wide auction. ...and my birthday is in one week on Monday. ...and I am on a diet and can't eat cake. This is the pits. I know we all have our loads to carry, just thought I would unload a little. I love life and it is just another day in paradise! Hope everyone has a great week!:-D
