I have noticed that many of you have established a rhythm for your contributions to class discussions and whether your regular time is late night, early morning, or afternoon, I think that establishing this schedule is a useful way to approach an online course.
I suspect that many of you know that TPACK is a major research interest of mine and thus I am especially enjoying our interactions around this topic this week. I believe that TPACK provides a very useful frame for describing and understanding true technology integration and your examples of TPACK in action are both interesting and useful to me.
And, finally, viewing the digital stories that are now appearing on our Facebook page is a delightful experience. In general, your stories are personal, informative and expertly presented. Congratulations!
I tend to be one of the late nighter people. When I get up in the morning, I have my focus on the lesson I will be teaching for the day. Sometimes this drives my wife crazy, because I tend to be so focused that I forget little things like where I put my shoes and did I pack my lunch then where is it! Thank God for my better half or I would never find anything. Does anyone else have this problem at home?
ReplyDeleteThe discussions, videos, and articles on TPACK are very neat. I have enjoyed the content of this week's study very much.
I tend to be an early bird or a later in the evening person...I usually get up, check to see what has been posted, comment on a couple of things and go to work. Sometimes I have a few minutes at lunch time to check the Moodle site.
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying reading and hearing about TPACK...it would be wonderful if all educators at every level would "buy in" and if the people pushing the assessment measures would look at authentic, meaningful learning instead of % increase/decrease in reading/math/science scores...
I am a whenever I can get a few minutes. I tend to be more of a late nighter, since that is when I can get a guaranteed amount of time to work.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed teh TPCK discussions as well. Very interesting stuff, it seems so logical, and I hate to say it, but common sense, yet so many people are still not "getting it" when it comes to training teachers and preservice teachers.
I think people don't "get TPACK" for one of three reasons. 1) They don't know about it 2) They don't want to change 3) The focus is on formal summative assessments, instead of meaningful formative assessments.
ReplyDeleteI too, am a "whenever" person. I have enjoyed the digital story videos and the discussions on TPACK. I was able to attend Denise's presentation on TPACK at the ITEC conference, and it was much more entertaining than the reading:) There were some great resources, ideas and discussions at the conference. I am looking forward to sharing these with my colleagues in the upcoming days.
ReplyDeleteI miss the blog entries. :-(
